The Farmington Junior High Bands are under the direction of Heath Wolf and Kaitlin Landen. The band has distinguished themselves in all areas, recently being the only junior high band in the western United States to receive the prestigious Sudler Cup from the John Philip Sousa Foundation. The band at FJH is also the largest, most successful, and most popular group of students. Students in the band participate in a variety of extracurricular activities, AP classes, and the dual immersion program. The band has made 2 appearances at the prestigious, internationally acclaimed Midwest Clinic in Chicago. They are a 2-time Music for All national Band festival participant in Indianapolis. The Husky band has received consistent sweepstakes awards at the Utah State Concert Band Festival. The band is also a National Band Association Blue Ribbon Recipient. The jazz band at FJH is a 2 time Downbeat Magazine winner for best junior high jazz band. This year, the Jazz band won the National Jazz Honor Band award for best junior high jazz band.
Kaitlin Landen is a passionate musician and dedicated flautist who has been sharing her love of music through teaching since 2020. Now in her fifth year at Farmington Junior High, she leads the award winning Husky Band program with enthusiasm and heart. Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Kaitlin has over 18 years of experience on the flute and has performed with some of the most prestigious band programs in the country.
She was a featured soloist with the award-winning Ronald Reagan High School Wind Symphony and Marching Band, performing in Colts Stadium during Bands of America Grand National Finals, and earned a spot in the Texas All-State Philharmonic Orchestra on piccolo.
Kaitlin graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and a minor in Spanish. During her time at BYU, she served as a leader and soloist with both the BYU Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony, touring internationally and making connections through music. Her musical journey has taken her around the world—from performing across Australia to teaching students in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
Kaitlin began her own musical journey in 6th grade and has been hooked ever since. She believes music is a powerful force that connects people across cultures, languages, and backgrounds—and she’s excited to help her students experience that connection every day.
Mr. Isaac Romer is a passionate music educator and percussionist dedicated to helping students discover joy and meaning through music. A recent graduate of Brigham Young University with a degree in Music Education, he completed his student teaching at Westlake High School and later served as a long-term substitute teacher at Fort Herriman Junior High.
Mr. Romer brings a wealth of experience to the classroom, including private instruction, substitute teaching, and a strong background in performance. He performed with many top ensembles during his time at BYU, including the Philharmonic Orchestra, the Wind Symphony, Cougar Marching Band, and Tangents Percussion Quartet. He was the 2024 winner of the BYU Philharmonic Concerto Competition, 2022 runner-up in the PASIC Collegiate Solo Competition, and in high school was a PASIC Champion and All-State Musician at Lorena High School in Lorena, TX.
As both an educator and composer, Mr. Romer holds the fundamental belief that music is for everyone. His goal is to foster a welcoming, expressive environment where students of all backgrounds can grow as musicians and individuals.
Outside the classroom, Mr. Romer has created several original percussion compositions and participated in a variety of creative music video projects. He enjoys hosting a music education podcast with his talented wife, Lizzy. The two are currently expecting their first child and are excited for the adventures ahead as a young family.
